I wish that I lived in a window display, Posed, poised to get people to pay The forever scent of stale perfume recently on sale My skin, poreless and pale The sultan of cultured consumption The prince of porcelain temptation I’d be befittingly placed in the backdrop Not to stand out as a target. Just enough to feel important. Oh The sign above me’d read something like, “Friends of Dorothy” With lighting straight from the 70’s And I’d tug past the heartstrings and down to the pockets of thousands every day You may say it’d get lonely, but there would always be accessories for company Safe in my window display Oh When I’m gone, don’t sell me to science My insides are nothing to see Just hollow me out, use shellac as a shroud Outstretch my hand, place me up on a stand Give me shades from Chanel, hide my eyes unwell Bury me in my cemetery, The ground floor of Macy’s Oh

The cola company resides by the railroad And like clockwork each day, the commuter rail rockets away And the offices fizz and the bottles explode No-one knows where it all goes When the carbon all overflows Cheryl’s Chevrolet is always tucked away Her husband asks her to take off the cover And let the neighbors see it displayed But she feels complete just looking down the street At the building gushing foamy spray For the rumbling trains make her shudder, But, like any other, she lives on the day to day No-one knows where it all goes The nerve she had before hubby’s ego overflows Oh, everyone knows how much it blows ‘Cause now, every week, she pleasure-seeks and goes “They all want my autograph “‘Cause I don’t pay in cash” “A strip mall celebrity” “This is the easy life” “Husband, child and wife” “With every step I leave receipts” “Receipts, receipts” “Strip mall celebrity” Take me to hallowed ground Where they’ll take you to the hollowed ground Years from now Years from now Tony takes the train into town to balance all the tills He stocks his suitcase full, feels the trigger as he pulls And makes pennies out of pills No-one knows where it all goes When the veins can’t hold the blood, and the skin overflows Oh, the sky diamonds did him in Mafia metropolitan Survived by gold digger, bookie whore, Keeps up the storefront, minus the store They can’t take her autograph if she pays in cash She’s stripped it all gracefully This is the hardest life, but it’s how you do it right Take careful steps not to leave receipts Be discrete, strip mall celebrity ‘Cause money don’t grow on trees Keep up the façade like it’s your goddamn job Let shopping malls hide your fraud How are you still around? ‘Cause back then, you both vowed… “Take me to hallowed ground” “Where they’ll take you to the hollowed ground” “Years from now” “Years from now” “Slip a gold coin between your teeth” “‘Cause the ferry ain’t free” “Take me to the hallowed ground”

Guys like me hold onto everything For all the sentimental reasons Guys like him toss your trinkets While they go out and commit treason Guess one man’s trash is another man’s treasure And one guy’s way just to pass the time could be Someone else’s greatest pleasure I thought we both had something… Now I have everything. Today you’ll get a flyer in the mail I’m having a post-blowout sale ‘Cause ever since a certain disappearance, I’ve put it all on clearance Up to 90% off of the marked signs I’m practically giving it away at this price I’ll tell you all the specs that you want to know Woah Everything must go Guys like me go all in And cut their palms to make a pact Guys like him just wanna keep their hands busy, But their hearts intact Guess it’s more than a vein I severed And the scar’s a reminder of how I foolishly said forever, oh Caveat emptor to the young entrepreneur Bright of eye and bushy-tailed with lips mouthing “more” Caveat emptor to the young entrepreneur ‘Cause the fine print’s only there if you squint, and why would you when you feel so sure? ‘Cause soon you’ll be the king With all the wealth a joint venture can bring But when ring fingers and big figures fail, Life with tell the same tired tale You’ll be saying, “Today you’ll get a flyer in the mail” “I’m having a post-blowout sale” “‘Cause ever since a certain disappearance,” “I’ve put it all on clearance” “Up to 90% off of the marked signs” “I’m practically giving it away at this price” “I’ll tell you all the specs that you want to know” “Woah” “Everything must go” “Everything must go” Caveat emptor to the young entrepreneur [x4]

You let me go Does that mean you love me? The silence grows Is this how you say sorry? What happened to the boy Who came out of the blue Raving about a movie he viewed, Saying, “I can’t stop thinking about it” “And I can’t stop thinking about you.” (I had my reservations, I had my doubts) (I nearly had you figured out) You called me cute Euphoric would understate me We were hot and lewd Do you give that to anybody? What happened to the guy Who came back into my life Couldn’t forget me somehow And went so far as to say, “I wanna f--k you so hard right now.” Somebody wise once told me, Don’t get yourself in situations No, don’t get yourself in situations Darling, that you can’t handle I should’ve listened… But I gambled. (I had my reservations, I had my doubts) (I nearly had you figured out) Conversing with you was a case study in loss prevention A respectful level of trust with carefully guarded attention Just in case you inevitably became the statistic they all mention, 1 out of 11 people rob goods today. Locked all my valuables in a vault far, far away And I guess it worked! You only took half of what made me feel okay. I should’ve listened… I was too much for you to handle. With that I’ll let it go But keep the confidence you gave me You’ll crawl back in another five years or so Hope I drive you crazy

Eden 02:04
You slid in and showered me with praises Made me feel I was walking with God Went through all the motions and phases, Constructed a flawless façade You hoped from the tree I hadn’t taken, Contrary to how the tales give you blame You wanted to see me naked, Thinking I had no shame But your temptation ended here, though, For I’ve been in this land longer than you I made that mistake ages ago, I understand the forbidden fruit You gave me something to believe in, All these roads you asked me to take But you couldn’t fool me with Eden, There are snakes. There are snakes.

Roll out of bed to the commercials pounding in your head Pour a cup for a quick pick-me-up just to get out the lead And maybe you shouldn’t have stayed up all night watching videos and twitter fights But you can’t help it, the corporate conglomerate has got the formula right We’re imbued with glee and gloom until every wish is presumed Are we consumers, or are we consumed? Slimmer, slimmer, slimmer, and slimmer still You’ll look presentable If you just take this magic little pill ‘Cause perfection is precious but practical Sacrifice quality for the new commodity, ‘Cause who need to be kind when they have their pockets lined? [x2] So soak it all in and tell yourself you feel human ‘Cause the line where joy begins must be the opposite of sin Buy and be bought, think what you want, but can you call them your thoughts? ‘Cause we’re imbued with glee and gloom until every wish is presumed Are we consumers, or are we consumed? Go back to bed with thousands of notification assaulting your head Info overload, mind prepped to explode, you’d rather be sleeping instead Anything instead Just not the stuff you’re fed Anything instead You’d rather be… Sacrifice quality for the new commodity, ‘Cause who need to be kind when they have their pockets lined? [x2] So soak it all in and tell yourself you feel human ‘Cause the line where joy begins must be the opposite of sin Buy and be bought, think what you want, but can you call them your thoughts? When we’re imbued with glee and gloom until every wish is presumed Are we consumers, or are we… Just soak it all in and tell yourself you feel human Because the line where joy begins must be the opposite of sin Buy and be bought, think what you want, but can you call them your thoughts? ‘Cause we’re imbued with glee and gloom until every wish is presumed Are we consumers, or are we consumed? Pitylove 04:39
Pity in pink cheeks flushing as you ask me to You know I’m weak, and I almost say I do But I remember the deal in which I’m found Remember you excusing bad bonds, because it was a re… Enough. Pitylove Pitylove Do you think I’m that willing to call you king? That I can be a crutch and briefly support anything? Silly, love Silly, love I’m green with endearments, you’re gonna make me sick How do I know if this is really a bond, more than word, that will stick? ...Are you still listening? ‘Cause making out in malls sure sounds like a thrill But unlike you, I’m not looking for time to kill Have you had enough? Or do you really intend on not giving this up? Pitylove Pitylove Do you think I’m that willing to call you king? That I can be a crutch and briefly support anything? Woah Silly, love Silly, love Are you lighting the match to kindle the flame, Or burning a to-do list etched with my name? Woah Quickie love Just a quickie love And I wanna believe you And maybe you wanna believe yourself, too But no matter how strong the desire I’m not gonna freeze sitting by a one-candle fire Forgive that your history precedes my trust Pitylove Pitylove Do you think I’m that willing to call you king? That I can be a crutch and briefly support anything? Just ‘cause you’re Pretty, love? Pretty, love? Are you lighting the match to kindle the flame, Or burning a to-do list etched with my name? ‘Cause I know I’m not the grand prize, but I’m a part of the game I won’t take your Pitylove Pitylove

Sugar 04:55
It started simply as girl meets boy, but then boy meets another girl And as you can guess, it took mere seconds for everything to unfurl Why pass on someone’s eternal praise just to find fertile prey? ‘Cause no-one thinks you’re for real, we only feel you wanna create a fray And if you run, you think you’ll know just what to do ‘Cause you wanna have fun, so screw those who disagree with you You say you feel empty, but honey, will this suffice? Stuff’s falling to pieces, so please think twice ‘Cause maybe you’re made of spice and some things nice But lately you’ve been missing That sugar, baby Little girl lost in the woods with no breadcrumbs leading back Because if she were faced with going home, frankly she’d rather be attacked And a wolf walks by, gives her a smile and says he’ll make her feel special for a while But are there really no red flags when he says things as vile As to run into his car, you’ve got things to do Have some fun, ‘cause after all, out of everyone, he chose you He turned them all down, so now you call it revenge But can’t you see the bigger impact of the damage? ‘Cause people say you two are made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails But he’s still got you begging For that sugar, baby That sugar, baby You’re a worn down warrior with a thorny crown But just because you have a bigger cross to bear doesn’t mean you can burn it all to the ground And he may be your outlet for your problems left unsaid, But being queen of the bed won’t conquer the demons in your head You may think it’s best simply because you both have an interest But honey, no-one’s impressed that a boy can charm a girl into getting undressed And think she knows just what to do He’s got a bad complex, and darling, he’s just using you You may feel superior, but sweetie, just wait and see When his ego reinflates and he waves goodbye with your virginity ‘Cause he’s just using you for the spice and all things nice But you’ll always just be His sugar baby His sugar baby, oh

Soothsayer 03:09
I’ve been so caught up in what they all say They strategize and fraternize, try ot plan my life away But all I crave is one simple phrase: “You’re gonna be okay” So now that I have the opportunity, give me something to believe ...Please? Soothsayer, what can you tell me ‘bout where I’m gonna go? You know the game, and I’m the player, so what can you say ‘bout how the dice are gonna roll? Answer my prayer, however you can Give me a sign about the master plan It doesn’t have to be clear, just let me put this thought to bed How did the fates cut the thread? I understand the element of surprise, but why keep it hush-hush, locked up tight? ‘Cause just one word could help me discern, and save me several sleepless nights Or is this all just pointless anyway, you know which one of us wins this fight So skip all the formalities, and give me something to believe ...Please? Soothsayer, what can you tell me ‘bout where I’m gonna go? You know the game and I’m the player, so what can you say ‘bout how the dice are gonna roll? Answer my prayer, however you can Give me a sign about the master plan It doesn’t have to be clear, just let me put this thought to bed How did the fates cut the thread? I’ve been so caught up in what they all say…

Hailstones 04:22
Hailstones rain from the sky Twinkle like diamonds sublime Too great for the pauper I. They land in my palms astray But before my happiness may display They begin to melt away. That’s okay. Hailstones aren’t happiness anyway. If down the road, life love does bring And I asked you to be my king, Would you say yes despite no diamond ring? ‘Cause around us precious stones do fall And disregarding society’s squall, General gems don’t mean much at all. Is that okay? Hailstones aren’t happiness anyway. 120,000 lumens just for you The sun stroking skin anew So don’t let a storm obstruct your view Hail’s tones only ring if you allow them to The summer air sets a mood refined, There’s not a corrupted thought in mind, Being with you is so divine. Petrichor does fill air, Tender hands running through your hair, There are countless calculations, but I don’t care. I’m okay. Will you stay? Let’s dare to make a foray, There’s no happiness like holding you anyway.

about

There's something about my local mall that's always felt "safe" to me. In a point in my life where everything was changing, I needed to dive into something familiar as a creative outlet - and so most of this album revolves around, or was written in, the mall that was my safe haven for the past year. I hope this album brings you as much comfort and emotion listening to as it did for me when I was writing it!
