about

This is a song about the burnout of helping everyone except yourself. I wrote this after breaking down from a day of dealing with other people's problems to avoid my own. I likened myself to a vase - I'm here to try and make people happy, but I'm also incredibly fragile myself. Hope you like it!

lyrics

I’m not just scenery
And taking care of me’s not a luxury
Just cause I’m here to please
Doesn’t mean that I’m always at ease

It’s unfair to me
That I have to help you up when I’m on my knees
Yeah it’s unfair to me
You may think you’re cutting porcelain but I still bleed

I want to brighten up every space
Even if it’s not at my own pace
At the end of the day baby, I’m an unprotected vase
Sometimes I just need a break

Mind my fragility
I don’t like the way you’re handling me
You think I’m sitting pretty
But my defenses are one layer deep

It’s unfair to me
That I have to help you up when I’m on my knees
Yeah it’s unfair to me
You may think you’re cutting porcelain but I still bleed

I want to brighten up every space
Even if it’s not at my own pace
At the end of the day baby, I’m an unprotected vase
Sometimes I just need a break

I want to feel like I own this place
So much so I’ll cut my nose to spite my face
Oh please wrap me up baby, I’m an unprotected vase
Sometimes I just need a break
