This tells the story of Medea through the perspective of Medea's children. They're really almost props in the play itself, but they go through quite a lot over the course of the play. I think that is a key part of the tragedy that deserves exploration.
lyrics
The nurse says all will be well
If we stay away from mom for a spell
She says that dad really cares
But what he’s doing is just not fair
We ask if mom will be okay, together
She turns away and says, "soon, better than ever"
Ai, ai, ai
I hear nothing but lies
And people trying
To not hear die die die
Ai, ai, ai,
Screams of mom’s surprise
And sad smiles that spell demise
But they say all will be well
They say all will be well
They say all will be well
They say all will be well
But they can’t tell
Mom says it’ll be okay
Dad’s letting us stay
But mom will have to pack her things
She sheds a tear for all she’ll be missing
Go to dad, she asks
And hands us robes so tightly wrapped
We ask, will you be alright?
She gives a sinister smile, looking at heaven all the while
And says, "better than ever"
Ai, ai, ai
I see it in front of my eyes
The foam from the mouth of dad’s new wife
Ai, ai, ai
Screams of mom’s delight
She tells us both to come inside
Because now all will be well
Now all will be well
Now all will be well
Now all will be well
How can she tell...
...Me what’s happening?
Oh gods please help me
Are we truly lost in this?
Knives drawing her gift to us
Puddles of her flesh and blood
She lays down a final kiss
And says, "this hurts me more than you"
"But no pain will be greater than his"
Ai, ai, ai
Ai, ai, ai
I see it with my own eyes
Mother riding away in pure light
There's immense amounts of theory behind every single song on this album, and every instrumental is so well-crafted. The creativity oozes Imogen Heap and I love it. Jeremy Francoeur
